2012 MN Teen Video Challenge

The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) has launched the 2012 Teen Video Challenge, a national video competition for teens to get involved with reading and their public library's summer reading program.  Teens across the country are invited to create a 30 to 90 second video with their unique interpretation of the 2012 teen slogan Own the Night in combination with reading and libraries. The idea is to involve teens in summer reading, before and during the summer months, by being part of the process. This is an opportunity for teens to showcase their creativity and have their ideas heard before a national audience.

The Minnesota Summer Reading Program and Youth Services Committee is looking for teens in our state to create and submit videos.  The SRP/YS Committee will decide a winner and that video will be named one of the CSLP 2012 Teen Videos to promote summer reading nationwide.

$275 will be awarded to the creators of the winning state video and their associated public library will receive prizes worth $150 from CSLP and Upstart. Winners will be announced by CSLP in spring 2012.

Eligibility

The 2012 Teen Video Challenge for Minnesota is open only to legal U.S. and Minnesota state residents aged 13 -18. Participants are ineligible if directly related to the panel of judges for the contest. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Contest Rules.  Each participant or group may submit one video per entry.  Each entry must include signed model release form(s) (see "How to Enter" below).  All submissions must be received at your library by February 1, 2012.  Late entries will not be accepted. A DVD of the video will be requested from the winner.  Click here to see the entry form.

Terms & Conditions

All music and artwork must be created by the entrant or be in the public domain and must be specified as such on the entry form.  The Collaborative Summer Library Program (and all CSLP member affiliates) have permission to use the 2012 Teen Video Challenge submissions, including all work created and all intellectual property embodied therein, as per the Model Release form.
