MN Library Certification Program Takes Off Again!

September 12, 2011 -- The certification program provides library staff with a framework to improve their skills, knowledge, and abilities in 55 competency areas.  These include philosophy of library services, management, public services, technical services and cataloging, reference services, and technology.  The site provides basic information, enrollment forms, and certification contacts for each regional public library.

The Minnesota program is currently linking this program to the American Library Association Allied Professionals Association to allow those who complete the Minnesota program to easily qualify for the ALA-APA certification.  More on this topic coming at the MLA conference in Duluth!

Over the coming years, round robin workshops covering all of these competencies will be provided around the state.  Information on the dates and locations for the FALL 2011 round robin sessions, Day 1: Introduction to Library Services,  are on the master calendar.  More information will be forthcoming on how to register for these sessions.

CRPLSA extends its appreciation to the Minnesota Library Certification Committee for their work in making this new launch possible.  Particular thanks to the former Chair and leader of the Certification Program efforts in Minnesota, Rebecca Patton, who made this program successful for so many participants.
